The Ruyi — As You Wish, So It Shall Be
The ruyi scepter (如意如) is one of the most refined symbols in the entire Chinese auspicious vocabulary — carried by emperors and immortals, given as the highest gift between the most distinguished people, its curved head shaped like the sacred lingzhi mushroom of immortality. Its name contains the most complete wish imaginable: ruyi — “as you wish,” “according to your heart’s desire,” the gracious granting of all that you most deeply want. To give a ruyi pendant is to give the most elegant of all blessings: may the universe cooperate with your wishes, may all things unfold according to your heart, may your life be exactly as you would have it be.
The most elegant and complete wish in Chinese culture — a perfect gift for anyone beginning a new chapter, making important decisions, or simply deserving the blessing that all things go exactly as they wish.
